This 62-story tower in Midtown New York required precisely fitting curved insulating units that provided superior energy performance.
This tower is designed with a facade of undulating and shifting floorplates clad in a skin of aluminum composite panels and enclosed with tinted float glass. Each panel is approximately four feet
wide and 11 feet tall, with curved IGUs integrated into the design.
CetraRuddy Architecture designed the skyscraper with SunGuard® SuperNeutral® 68 on CrystalGray® a tinted float glass produced by Guardian Glass, to accentuate transparency and light in all directions. The glass has a remarkably lower heat coefficient than typical coated clear glass. Nancy Ruddy, of CetraRuddy, explained that the floor-to-ceiling windows and curved balconies achieve a “modern interpretation of a bay window”.
SBG manufactured these insulated units to provide solar control, safety, noise reduction, and superior insulation. Standard Bent Glass is a certified Guardian SunGuard® Select Fabricator for high performance coated glass. SBG offers a wide variety of insulating glass configurations to satisfy a wide range of performance and aesthetic requirements-flat or bent.
